Artemis issues a warning from Palma Vela

Artemis (SWE) has just won the Hublot PalmaVela regatta, beating two teams which will be contenders on the 2010 Audi MedCup Circuit, Matador (ARG) and Cristabella (GBR), as well as the British boat Weapon of Choice. This is the first class racing regatta for the modified TP52 boats before the start of the Audi MedCup TP52 Series.

Torbjorn Tornqvist’s (SWE) TP52, with tactician Paul Cayard (USA), warmed up for the season in the new 2010 configuration during the seventh Palma Vela regatta (Palma de Mallorca, April 15-18). Four bullets on the first two days of racing were the foundation for her overall victory, despite a more modest second half of the series. At the final podium, Artemis won with 11 points, followed by John Cook’s (GBR) Cristabella (GBR), only two points behind on 13 points, and the 2009 TP52 World Champion, Alberto Roemmer’s (ARG) Matador (ARG), with 15.

Next date on the itinerary: Portugal Trophy, Cascais (May 11-16).
