Ignacio Triay, Audi MedCup Circuit Director, joined the world's leading sailing industry directors at the World Yacht Racing Forum held in Monaco from 8th to 10th of December.

The Audi MedCup Circuit director joined a panel of speakers that included Knut Frostad, CEO, of the Volvo Ocean Race, Denis Horeau, the Race Director on the Barcelona World Race, Josh Hall, the CEO of the Portimao Global Race, Dominique Wavre, President of the IMOCA and Riccardo Simoneschi, the CEO, B Plan Marketing.

The subject under discussion and debated upon centred on how to develop ways to reduce costs with the current challenges of today's economy, whilst maintaining event quality, and on how to streamline the cost for profesional sailing teams and managing the expenditure of well funded teams.

"There are certain areas where one strives to reduce costs for running an event and what one must maintain a good level of awareness and avoid reducing the communications effort," highlighted Ignacio Triay"When looking at teams, the TP52 Series for example, we can use the comparative with Formula One, we are not running a production boat and therefore each team will spend as much or less as he wants.  We have taken measures that will reduced certain costs such as limit to the number of sails, training days, weight etc."
