With LiveSailing, you can follow all
the MedCup’s live or archived races on your computer. All the boats, their
position and the races conditions are displayed in 3D.
Using horizontal menus located on the
top and bottom of LiveSailing console, you will get access to extensive
information, giving you a perfect understanding of the race.
01. Time control
You can use LiveSailing as a 3D tape
viewer with this menu, focusing on specific race moments that interest you.
- Start: go back to the race start
- Legs bar: the white vertical cursor indicates the boats position (each
number corresponds to the leg number, the triangles symbolize the buoys).

Use the play, fast forward (only on archived races) and
rewind buttons to select the race viewing speed.

Use the circle button to select the race moment you wish to
follow.
02. Display
menu
Use this menu to hide or display
several race information in the 3D animations. Point your mouse on
« display », and tick in the vertical menu the selected information.
A plain white point indicates the information will be displayed, a circle
indicated it will be hidden. By default, some of the information are displayed.
- Advantage line: displays the advantage line of the leading boat.
During fleet races, the advantage line is displayed between the 2 leading
boats, or between the leading boat and the selected boat.
- Distance: displays the distance between the boats. During fleet races,
the distance line is displayed between the 2 leading boats, or between the
leading boat and the selected boat.
- VMG: Velocity Made Good of the boats (real speed calculated upon
the direct route toward the boat’s next objective).
- Speed: boat speeds.
- Trajectory: boat trajectories on their last 800 feet.
- Laylines: boats laylines.
- Wind: displays the wind direction on the bottom left corner of the
image.
- Grid: displays a grid on the water.
03. Camera
You can choose your race point of
view, selecting and manipulating 3D cameras. Point your mouse on
« camera », and tick in the vertical menu the chosen camera.

Newt buoy: the camera is centered on the leading boat’s next buoy.
- All the boats: the camera displays all the participating boats.
- Race: wide shot of all the race and course.
- Automatic: the cameras shift automatically with the race action.
- <Boat name>: the camera is centered on the selected boat.
Use the « zoom » cursor to
zoom in/zoom out the camera.
You can also use your mouse to
manipulate the 3D camera:

Click on the mouse left button and move it to pan the camera.

Click on the right button of your mouse (only on PC) and move
your mouse to soom in/zoom out your camera.

Double click on any boat in the image to get your camera closer
to it.
